Intellectual property is a set of laws relating to results of intellectual activity (protective) designation, proprietary and non-proprietary intangibles. Objects of intellectual property arising JU means the results, which the author / originator created in performing the tasks stemming from his employment or other employment relationship to JU, possibly in fulfilling course requirements. These items of intellectual property may take the form of:

a) industrial property that can be protected by registration of the competent authority for the purposes of this measure are also included (protective) designation

b) copyrighted works

c) intellectual property protected by the Commercial Code.

Objects of intellectual property assets under copyright (works of authorship) and the subjects of industrial rights.

Objects of industrial property are the results of intellectual activities that are new and industrially (economically) exploitable. It comes to inventions, biotechnological inventions, utility models, industrial designs, topographies of semiconductor products, suggestions, mark.

The invention is a technical solution which is new, is the result of inventive activity and industrial application protectable by patent.

Biotechnological invention is patentable if it concerns biological material which is isolated from its natural environment or produced by a technical process even if it previously occurred in nature; plants or animals if the technical feasibility of the invention is not confined to a particular plant variety or breed of animal; or microbiological or other technical process and a product, other than a plant or animal variety, obtained by this method.

Patent protection is a document that is granted to protect inventions which are new technical solutions, inventive activity and industrial application.

Utility model is a form of protection for technical solutions that are new, industrially applicable, go beyond mere technical skill, but does not reach the level of invention.

Industrial design is the appearance of a product or part, consisting mainly of lines, contours, colors, shape, texture or materials of the product itself or its ornamentation, which is capable of protection if it is new and has individual character.

Improvement proposal are technical, manufacturing or operational improvements or problem-solving occupational safety and health and the environment, with which it has the right to dispose innovator.

A trademark is any sign capable of graphic representation, particularly words, including personal names, colors, designs, letters, numerals, the shape of goods or their packaging, provided that such sign is capable of distinguishing goods or services of one person from those of another person.

Topographies of semiconductor products is a series of any fixed or coded in showing the three-dimensional permanent arrangement of layers of which the semiconductor product consists of, where each representation model of one layer of a semiconductor product or its part, or the surface of the semiconductor product at each stage of production or its affiliates, but not in the conventional semiconductor products industry and is the result of creative activity originator. This term denotes also part of the topography that are independently usable and to representations used in manufacture of topographies.

Author's work is a work of literary, artistic or scientific (publications, paper), which is the unique result of creative activity of the author and is expressed in any objectively perceptible form, including electronic form, either permanently or temporarily, regardless of its scope, purpose or meaning. Copyrighted works will also mean a computer program, a work created by adaptation of another work, including its translation into another language, anthology, database, which is the selection or arrangement of the contents of the author's own intellectual creation.

Employee work is work that author / originator created to fulfill the obligations arising from the employment (or similar) relation to the JU. For employee work is regarded as a collective work, ie. Work on the drafting of which involved more than one author / authors, which is created on the initiative and under the leadership of JU and reported to the public under her name (and account), contributions included in such work are not capable of independent use.

School work is work that student JU created to fulfill study obligations arising from their legal relationship to the JU. For school work is similarly well regarded work created lifelong learners.

Intangible assets protected by the Commercial Code are the intangible nature of goods that are not subject to industrial legal protection or copyright work. These are trade secrets, know-how and confidential information. They are protectable especially in the protection against unfair competition.

Know-how, of knowledge, skills and experience scientific, organizational, managerial, economic, business, industrial, technical, operational, commercial, business, marketing or any other nature that is not generally known or available, they are essential to describe (expressed in any objectively perceivable form) and commercially usable and are not subject to intellectual property rights.

Trade secrets are all trade, production or technical nature related to the JU, which has real or potential material or immaterial value, not in the appropriate circles commonly available, they will be by secret JU JU adequately ensures their confidentiality and JU counts using them in their activities.

Confidential information, such information is not subject to commercial confidentiality, but JU is nevertheless intends to keep secret. Condition for recognition as a "confidential" any information is its explicit designation as confidential in writing.

Originator or innovator is any natural person in employment or a similar labor relation to JU, whether student or participant of lifelong learning courses organized by JU, which was his own creative work involved in creating the subject of intellectual property under the Commercial Code or the laws governing individual objects of industrial property .

The author is the natural person who created the work. In the case of a collective work as a whole also a natural person who is a creative way chosen or organized.

Co-author or co-designer is a natural person who is subject to the creation of intellectual property involved with other co-authors shared creative activity.

Intangible assets means the objects of intellectual property and other items of an immaterial nature, especially trade secrets and confidential information.

Management of objects of intellectual vlastnictvíse means their use for its own use (performance, operation, utilization for further research and development), its dissemination through teaching and technology transfer.

Technology transfer means making use of its rights to another entity, or transferring them to another party or use them for another purpose.

The licensing agreement means a bilateral legal act which authorizes the acquirer provider agreed scope and the agreed territory for the exercise of industrial property rights and the purchaser agrees to provide the agreed payment or other asset.

Contract research means the implementation of activities having the character of research, development and innovation as a reward for services rendered JU third party.

Collaborative research means the implementation of activities having the character of research, development and innovation in cooperation with a third party within the framework of this cooperation also carries out research, development and innovation.

Spin off entity means a legal person whose business is involved JU:

non-monetary contribution subject (s) of intellectual property rights JU; or
concluding licensing agreements, through which JU will allow the legal entity use (objects) of intellectual property rights JU; or
other transfer of the object (objects) of intellectual property rights JU; or
in another way, provided that its business (activity) of such a body is commercial exploitation of the subject (s) of intellectual property rights JU.
